SWAT Responds to Armed Threat at Dollar General on South Salina Street

(WNY News Now) A tense standoff unfolded Monday evening as Syracuse Police and SWAT teams responded to a menacing incident involving a firearm on South Salina Street.

SYRACUSE, NY On Monday, November 18, 2024, at approximately 6:13 p.m., Syracuse Police Officers were dispatched to the Dollar General at 2711 South Salina Street following reports of a man displaying a firearm inside the store.

Officers quickly secured the area, evacuating employees and customers to ensure their safety. A perimeter was established around the location, and the Syracuse Police Department s SWAT team was called to assist with the operation.

After several hours of methodical searching and tactical maneuvers, the suspect was not located inside the premises. Authorities confirmed the investigation remains active and ongoing.
