The artists on the global artist list are the ones who Spotify users worldwide streamed the most during the year. According to Spotify, Swift garnered over 26.6 billion plays this year amid the congested field of pop music releases.
Spotify wrote, “In her Global Top Artist era,” on X to congratulate the artist.
On Spotify this year, her April release, “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology,” had the most streams.
Furthermore, “Lover” was the eighth most-streamed album on the platform this year, and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” was the sixth most-streamed album.
In honor of Swift’s triumph this year, Spotify gave Swifties access to in-app Easter eggs, which included unique animations inspired by historical periods. Additionally, it updated Swift’s Spotify profile with a Wrapped badge.
Swift’s accomplishment coincides with the conclusion of her Eras Tour, which honors her illustrious career that began in March 2023. This weekend, Swift will play her final three gigs in Vancouver, marking the tour’s final stop.
In their Wrapped parcels, Swift included a video message to a few admirers who were among her top Spotify listeners.
She says, “Well hi,” in the video. “I just wanted to express my gratitude for being one of my Spotify top listeners. It’s very kind of you. Thank you to everyone who attended the event; as I reflect on this year, I realize how special you all made it for us to be on the Eras Tour. I appreciate the music being streamed. I truly appreciate everything you guys have done, including listening to my music so much; it’s been such a wild experience. So awesome.
Following Swift, the Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake, and Billie Eilish completed the top five artists on Spotify’s global artist list.
