(WNY News Now) Deputies pulled over a Knoxville man’s car for driving erratically on I-86 in Chautauqua County early on Sunday morning, leading to his arrest.
ELLERY, NY After an early Sunday morning traffic check on I-86, 50-year-old Knoxville, Tennessee resident Eric J. Rush was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and other infractions.
At around 4:40 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a vehicle complaint on the eastbound lanes of I-86 close to the Town of Mina. Deputies found the car in the Town of North Harmony, then stopped it in the Town of Ellery after noticing a traffic violation.
Rush was discovered to have been driving the car while purportedly intoxicated over the course of the investigation. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed motor vehicle operation in the third degree, failing to stay right, driving while intoxicated (DWI), and DWI per se (having a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or above).
Rush was given citations and freed; he will next appear in Town of Ellery Court. The accused is deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just like everyone else who is accused of a crime.
