With their first victory in New Jersey in 11 months, the New York Giants defeated the Indianapolis Colts 45-33 on Sunday, their finest home performance of the season.
However, the timing of the victory couldn’t have been worse.
The Giants’ victory moved them down from the top choice to the third in the 2018 NFL draft after the Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots both lost in Week 17.
As the season enters its last week, the Patriots, Titans, and New York are all 3–13. With a defeat to the 13-3 Buffalo Bills in Week 18, New England can secure the No. 1 overall pick and take control of its own fate.

One of the best games of his career was played by quarterback Drew Lock, who is starting for the fourth time this season.
Lock had an almost flawless passer rating of 155.3 after completing 17 of 23 throws for 309 yards and four touchdowns. He ran for a score, too.
Lock played very well in the fourth quarter. In the last fifteen minutes, Indianapolis twice reduced New York’s lead to two points. Lock also led 70-yard touchdown drives to cut New York’s lead to two points on both occasions.
Lock finished the second one with a 5-yard run on third-and-goal.
Even while the game was thrilling, the Giants, who are anticipated to select a quarterback in the first round of the April selection, may have to pay a high price for it.
The Giants could have to settle for their second pick on draft day because Tennessee is now likely to be in the market for a new signal caller and is ahead of New York in the selection order.
