Traffic Pattern Changes Coming to I-77 and SC 160

As part of ongoing construction projects headed by United Blythe Joint Venture (UBJV), the City of Tega Cay has announced significant adjustments to traffic patterns on I-77 and the interchange at SC 160. The modifications, which are scheduled to start on Sunday, January 26, are a component of Phase 2 of the construction project and are intended to enhance safety and traffic flow. In the upcoming week, drivers should be ready for lane closures and changes to traffic patterns.

Timetable of Modifications:

1. Phase 2 will begin on Sunday, January 26th, when southbound traffic on I-77 will move to the outside shoulder.

2. The new I-77 Northbound on-ramp will open to traffic on Monday night, January 27.

3. As part of the next phase, traffic on I-77 Northbound will move to the outside shoulder on Tuesday night, January 28.

4. From Tuesday evening, January 28, to Friday evening, January 31, workers will erect a temporary concrete barrier wall in the median of I-77.

Effect on Drivers:

Delays are anticipated as a result of these changes, particularly during periods of high travel demand. It is recommended that drivers remain vigilant due to lane closures, shifting traffic patterns, and nearby construction crews. During this time, drivers should think about using different routes or give themselves more time for their travels.

While these changes are being made, drivers are asked to be cautious and patient by the City of Tega Cay and UBJV. Travelers are advised to keep an eye on updates from the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and local authorities since weather conditions may affect the scheduled itinerary.
