Tragic Barn Fire in Stockton Claims Lives of Animals, Investigation Rules Cause Accidental

(WNY News Now) Investigators have determined that a heat lamp was the source of the destructive fire in the Town of Stockton, which occurred in a barn late at night. The incident has been declared unintentional.

Stockton, New York The Stockton Fire Department and several mutual aid units responded to a reported barn fire at 6258 S. Stockton Cassadaga Road on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at around 11:07 PM. Although firefighters fought the fire, the building was severely damaged, and a horse and numerous rabbits unfortunately died.

The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team came on the scene to ascertain the cause after the fire was put out. Investigators determined that a heat bulb that had come into contact with flammable objects was the cause of the incident. Officially, the incident was declared unintentional.

There were no recorded human casualties in the incident.
