Trump picks TruthSocial CEO Devin Nunes to lead intelligence advisory board

Devin Nunes, the CEO of Trump’s TruthSocial platform, was appointed head of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board by President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday.

Trump posted an announcement on TruthSocial stating, “I am happy to announce that I will appoint TruthSocial CEO Devin Nunes as Chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, which consists of distinguished citizens from outside the Federal Government.”

Former California representative and important Trump loyalist Nunes resigned from Congress in 2021 to take a position as CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group, which owns TruthSocial. One of Trump’s closest supporters while serving in Congress, Nunes chaired the House Intelligence Committee.

In his 2018 memo as chair of the Intelligence Committee, Nunes accused the FBI of conspiring against Trump and questioned the agency’s surveillance of one of Trump’s campaign aides in 2016. Some Democrats criticized the memo, claiming it was purposefully misleading.

Additionally, Trump wrote: Devin will use his background as the former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and his pivotal role in exposing the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax to give me independent evaluations of the efficacy and appropriateness of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s operations while continuing to lead the Trump Media & Technology Group. Devin, congratulations!

The president receives impartial opinion on the efficacy of the intelligence community from the advisory board, an independent body inside the executive office. The information required for decision-making and communication with the president is directly accessible to the board.

As a member of the advisory board, Nunes will continue to lead TruthSocial, Trump announced on Saturday.

The latest in a string of administration appointments with connections to Trump’s media empire is Nunes. The company’s board of directors includes both Kash Patel, Trump’s choice for director of the FBI, and Linda McMahon, his choice for the Department of Education.
