Following Sunday’s victory against the Carolina Panthers, defensive lineman Tershawn Wharton made the most significant catch for the Kansas City Chiefs when he rescued a young fan who had fallen from the stands.
Video was taken as soon as Wharton caught the child. It depicts a little boy reaching toward players leaving the field from a lower level stand at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, before he abruptly collapses forward.
Wharton It was a “natural reaction” to catch the infant, according to the Pat McAfee Show.
“Usually when I leave the game, I try to throw my gloves in the crowd and I think I heard my name a little bit and when I heard my name I seen him coming down,” said the player. “present were two security officers present. They probably had no idea what I was doing.
Wharton, 26, is seen in the video hoisting the toddler back into the stands.
“I kind of grabbed him right by the back of his back and kind of pushed him into the stands a little bit more,” said the man.
He expressed his desire to get to know the youngster and extend an invitation to another Chiefs game.
