Cucumber slices that were sold at 34 Texas Walmart locations are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.
Walmart said in a recall announcement posted to the Food and Drug Administration website on Wednesday that the Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices may contain cucumbers that were previously recalled and linked to salmonella infections between October 12 and November 15 and were sold by Arizona-based SunFed Produce.
Products with all date codes up until December 1 are covered by the recall.
Fever, stomachaches, nausea, vomiting, and occasionally bloody diarrhea can all be symptoms of salmonella. According to the Cleveland Clinic, salmonella infections claim the lives of about 420 Americans annually.
Walmart suggested that customers can return the cucumber slices to the shop where they bought them or throw them out.
SunFed had already announced a recall of cucumbers that might have been salmonella-contaminated. Between October 12 and November 26, the cucumbers were offered for sale at Walmart, Costco, and other locations in the United States as well as five Canadian provinces.
“As soon as we learned of this issue, we immediately acted to protect consumers,” said Craig Slate, president of SunFed, in a statement that was part the recall notice.
