Westfield Man Arrested for Road Rage Incident Involving Children, Faces Multiple Charges

(WNY News Now) – A Westfield man faces numerous charges after allegedly engaging in a road rage altercation, ramming another vehicle with his children present, and leaving the scene.

WESTFIELD, NY – The Westfield Police Department has arrested 53-year-old Robert W. Strang III following an investigation into a reported road rage incident on Sherman Westfield Road on October 20, 2024. Strang is accused of intentionally colliding with another driver’s vehicle during a confrontation sparked when the other motorist attempted to pass him legally in a designated passing zone.

According to police reports, Strang’s actions resulted in damages to the other vehicle totaling over $3,000. Authorities also discovered that two minors, both under the age of 18 and related to Strang, were in his vehicle during the altercation. This was in violation of a court-ordered Order of Protection that prohibited Strang from endangering the welfare of these minors.

Following the investigation, the Westfield Police issued an arrest warrant for Strang. He faces multiple charges, including Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, as well as various traffic violations, including Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Moving from Lane Unsafely, and Operating Without Insurance.

Strang was apprehended on November 12, 2024, and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where he underwent processing through the Centralized Arraignment Program (CAP). He is set to appear in Westfield Town Court to address these charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
