White House takes aim at Selena Gomez for video of her crying amid ICE raids

Selena Gomez was recently targeted by the White House over a now-deleted video that she uploaded of herself sobbing during recent immigration crackdowns.

The mothers of two women and a 12-year-old child who were allegedly murdered by undocumented migrants were featured in a film released by the White House.

The mother of Kathy Hamilton, who was murdered and sexually assaulted by El Salvadorian national Walter Javier Martinez in a Maryland mobile home, Tammy Nobles, told Gomez, “You don’t know who you’re crying for.”

“What about our children who were brutally murdered, and raped and beat to death and left on the floor by these illegal immigrants?” Nobles inquired.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted the video on X, tagging Gomez. It included snippets of her video, in which she sobbed about feeling powerless in the face of President Donald Trump’s recent mass deportations. After receiving criticism, the video was removed from her Instagram story after it was uploaded on Monday.

“I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can’t,” Gomez, whose paternal grandparents left Mexico, said in the video. “I am at a loss for what to do. I swear, I’ll try everything.

Gomez’s video, according to Rachel Morin’s mother Patty Morin, is “a ruse to deceive people and garner sympathy for lawlessness.”

In 2023, Rachel Morin, a mother of five, was discovered dead on the Ma and Pa trail in Maryland.According to a Maryland official, Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, 23, was detained in connection with her murder and allegedly entered the country illegally after escaping El Salvador, where police were looking for him in connection with the death of a young woman.

According to Alexis Nungaray, whose 12-year-old daughter Jocelyn Nungaray was discovered dead last summer, Gomez’s remarks in her video are difficult to accept “because she’s an actress.”

In relation to Nungaray’s death, Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel, 22, and Franklin Pena, 26, were charged with capital murder of a juvenile aged 10 to 15. Immigration and Customs Enforcement immigration violation holds were listed on the court records of both suspects.

Last year, Trump and former President Joe Biden debated the 12-year-old’s murder. Trump took to Truth Social to accuse Biden of being responsible for her death due to the Biden administration’s border policy. In retaliation, the Biden team blamed Trump for sabotaging a bipartisan border agreement in Congress.

Trump’s recent immigration policies have been welcomed, according to Nungaray’s mother.

“It’s only been two weeks, if that, since he’s been in office and he’s taking accountability, and he’s making moves, and he’s making things happen,” Nungaray stated for the White House video.

What they claimed was a lack of concern for their daughters’ fates was condemned by Nobles and Morin.

Nobles remarked, “They didn’t cry for our daughters,”
