Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Western New York Counties

(WNY News Now) From 6 PM on January 28 to 6 PM on January 29, Buffalo’s National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, alerting people to the possibility of heavy snowfall and strong winds.

Four to eight inches of snow are predicted to accumulate over the course of a 24-hour period in Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties, according to a Winter Weather Advisory. Potentially dangerous travel conditions might result from winds that gust up to 40 mph.

The alert will be in force until 6 PM on Wednesday, January 29. It starts this evening at 6 PM. Residents are advised to expect difficult weather, especially on Wednesday morning and evening journeys.

Travel delays may result from snow-covered roadways and poor visibility, according to the NWS. When driving on the area’s roads, drivers are encouraged to slow down, extend their following distances, and use caution.

Isolated power outages may also result from the combination of wind and snow. It is advised that locals keep up with weather updates and stock up on emergency supplies.

To help with monitoring and response activities, the NWS asks community people to report local snow conditions via social media or their website.
