Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Western Southern Tier

Buffalo, New York (WNY News Now)From 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, the Buffalo-based National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the western Southern Tier.

The alert states that mixed precipitation is anticipated, with ice accumulations of about a tenth of an inch and snow and sleet accumulations of an inch or less. These circumstances may result in slick roads and dangerous driving, especially on Thursday mornings.

Drivers are advised to slow down, drive carefully, and give themselves more time to get there. Periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain can impair vision and make driving hazardous, according to NWS advice.

Residents are urged to use social media or the NWS website to report snow and ice conditions.
