York County Names Mitch Miller as New Economic Development Director

YORK COUNTY, S.C. Mitch Miller, who has served as temporary director and deputy director since last summer, has been formally named the new director of economic development for York County.

Miller, who has worked in economic development for more than 15 years, is renowned for his capacity to build connections and promote strategic expansion. His ability to lead will be crucial in luring and keeping companies that boost York County’s economy and improve the standard of living in the area.

Miller was the Northeast Tennessee Regional Hub’s Chief Operating Officer prior to joining York County, where he oversaw labor retention and company development. In the past, he served as the CEO of the Washington County Economic Development Council and the Northeast Tennessee Regional Economic Partnership. Additionally, he has worked as the Business Development Manager for the Lincoln County Economic Development Association in North Carolina and the Director of Marketing and Business Recruitment for the Tri-Cities Regional Alliance.

Miller’s vision and leadership were commended by York County Manager Josh Edwards.

In order for York County to remain a fantastic location to live, work, and raise a family, Mitch is committed to expanding economic possibilities for its residents, according to Edwards. In collaboration with the County Council, he has started putting York County’s 2025–2027 Strategic Plan into action, concentrating on the businesses and people that make York County unique, such as our small enterprises and farmers.

Tom Couch, assistant York County manager, agreed.

According to Couch, Mitch has proven in his interim position that he is a smart leader actively pursuing connections and business prospects for York County. He will be an excellent community champion who prioritizes capital investment, job creation, and expansion with both new and established companies.

York County’s 2025–2027 Strategic Plan places a high priority on economic growth by fostering an atmosphere that is conducive to business, encourages economic variety, and fortifies alliances. Miller and his group will play a key role in accomplishing these objectives, according to county officials.

Miller was excited about his new position.
