A 54-year-old man was apprehended after police conducted a search of his residence and located around 170 lbs. of cocaine.

This discovery took place early on a Saturday morning when officials from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office in LaPlace, Louisiana, which is approximately 30 miles west of New Orleans, initiated an inquiry at the LaPlace residence.

“On Saturday, September 9, 2023, officers initiated an inquiry at the LaPlace residence. During the investigation, packages containing cocaine were uncovered,” stated a release from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office on Monday. “Approximately 77 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of $2 million were confiscated.”

The whereabouts of the suspect during the police investigation remain unclear, but authorities have confirmed the arrest of a 54-year-old man in connection with the cocaine found at the property.

The unidentified individual faces charges of possession and intent to distribute, both considered felonies in the state of Louisiana, and is presently in custody on a $750,000 bond.

Officials have reported that the investigation into this case is ongoing.
