Matthew Perry’s Toxicology Report Offers Insights into the Star’s Possible Cause of Death

Six days after his death, the investigation into Matthew Perry’s passing continues to raise more questions than answers, according to a former medical examiner.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner informed Fox News Digital that an autopsy had been completed, with pending toxicology results.

Following reports that a toxicology screening did not detect fentanyl and meth in his system at the time of death, Dr. Michael Baden, former chief medical examiner of New York City and a forensic pathologist and Fox News contributor, wondered why the cause of death had not been disclosed yet.

“If Matthew Perry had succumbed to a heart attack, it would have been immediately evident and stated,” Baden exclusively told Fox News Digital. “At this point, we’re waiting for the results of the toxicology tests, and this delay suggests they may have crucial information.”

Dr. Baden had previously commented, “Based on the information released so far, we won’t have a definitive answer until the toxicology tests are completed, considering his history of alcohol and drug-related issues. The circumstances of him being found in a hot tub immediately raise concerns about drowning or heat stroke.”

“Given the information available, it’s entirely possible he died of natural causes, especially considering his history of surgeries and medical crises,” Dr. Baden had stated earlier.

Initial tests, as reported by TMZ, indicated the absence of both fentanyl and meth in the actor’s system at the time of his death. Perry, 54, passed away following an apparent drowning in a hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles, confirmed by law enforcement sources to Fox News Digital. No drugs were reportedly found at the scene, and foul play is not suspected.

In a new interview with Fox News Digital, Dr. Baden emphasized, “The two critical substances to consider are Vicodin, an opioid narcotic, and alcohol, both of which, according to his biography, caused him significant trouble. We need to await the full toxicology results because after six days, they should know if there were any natural causes of death, such as a heart attack or heart disease, which are the most common causes of death.
